VSU Continues to aid Haitian Disaster Relief Efforts
VALDOSTA -- Several groups at Valdosta State University continue
to support organizations working to aid disaster relief efforts
following a devastating earthquake in Haiti.
The following shows these campus efforts. Please contact individual
groups listed below to participate. If you would like to include
your group's project to this list please send it to thboyd@valdosta.edu .
The Student Advisory Council, Delta Sigma Theta and Heart to
Heart International, along with 15 student organizations, will host
"Hearts for Haiti" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the
Student Union, the pedestrian mall and palms quad. Community
members can bring $1 donations to purchase hearts for display in
honor of loved ones. Later that evening, participants are invited
to a reception, which will feature a special presentation and a
performance by the VSU Mass Choir.
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages is
collecting monetary donations for the Red Cross Disaster Relief
Fund. Make checks out to Red Cross and bring them to the MCL, West
Hall, room 128. Call Patricia Stone at (229) 333-5948 for more
information.
Centennial/Converse Hall Council is hosting a clothing drive
throughout spring semester. Community members are encouraged to
bring tops, bottoms and shoes of all sizes for men, women and
children to Centennial Hall on Sustella Avenue. Items must be in

Providing Monetary Contributions: There are several
non-profit agencies collecting monetary donations. To view a

Justice hosted a successful food drive Friday, Jan. 22. Read

VSU Librarian Cliff Landis recently offered to donate
$10,000 from his personal savings to match donations from other to
Partners in Health, an organization that has been working in Haiti
for more than 20 years. The outpouring of generosity overwhelmed
him when his $10,000 was met in just three days. Visit his blog at
