Film Festival Entries due Jan. 1
VALDOSTA -- Individuals wishing to enter a short film into the
annual Causes Film Festival must submit by Friday, Jan. 1,
2010.
Members of VSU and the local community are invited to enter
Valdosta's mini film festival. Each 90-second documentary must
highlight a cause -- such as homelessness, education, racism or
women's issues -- with a Valdosta focus.
Last year, Kelly Murray created a compelling documentary regarding
the unnecessary waste created by bottled water. View her short film
at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyTT662A0sI
.
Participants are encouraged to be thoughtful and creative, while
using powerful visuals to explain their causes. The most passionate
directors will receive cash prizes. Organizers will upload approved
submissions to YouTube for viewing during the 7 p.m. opening night
celebration on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at VSU.
There is no cost to enter. Submissions can be delivered in person
to the University Center, room 1130, or e-mailed to event
organizers Andrea Zvikas at aazvikas@valdosta.edu or Dr.
Matthew Richard at mjrichar@valdosta.edu. View a
promotional video about the event at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-uDp15QJX4
or visit the Causes Facebook group for more information.
