Student Success Center Offers Online Tutoring

VALDOSTA - The Student Success Center (SSC) now offers online tutoring in addition to traditional face-to-face interactions. Web-based sessions are available for English/writing, mathematics, chemistry, French, accounting, German, Latin, economics and Spanish. The SSC will continue to add online tutoring for a variety of subjects as the program grows.

"The Student Success Center's online tutoring service allows students to access our resources and expertise even if they are unable to come on campus to the SSC,” said Terence Sullivan, academic advisor and tutor coordinator. “In light of increases in the number of online classes and programs being offered at VSU, we feel this service is needed now more than ever.”

Interested students may click on the Web-based tutoring link located on the menu bar of the SSC Web page and login using their BlazeNet username and password. Students must complete a mandatory tutorial the first time they sign into the system.

When tutors are online, students may enter a live chat session with trained SSC employees. The chat also includes a whiteboard feature that allows students and tutors to write information on their computers that is visible to the chat room.

“Students have access to the online system 24 hours a day, seven days a week to post questions, comment on discussion board topics, and uploads documents for review," Sullivan said.
