Join VSU for ESPN Viewing Party

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University will host a community-wide viewing party for ESPN's TitleTown, USA, filmed in Winnersville, beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, in the university's PE Complex on the corner of Sustella Drive and Baytree Road.

Fans are invited to join VSU for the ESPN Classic broadcasts of VSU's NCAA Division II championship games from 2004 against Pittsburg State, beginning at 2 p.m., and 2007 against Missouri State, beginning at 4 p.m.

These will run prior to the 6 p.m. episode of "SportsCenter" on the main ESPN channel, which will share with the world Valdosta’s love for sports, captured during the July 9 filming of area sports fans cheering in the stands of Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. The pleas for TitleTown status made by former and current Valdosta sports stars, athletic officials and the mayor will be shown as three segments within the "SportsCenter" broadcast.

The university has prepared for a crowd of 1,500-2,000 fans, who will watch the broadcasts on two 15x20 screens. Scott James of Small Town Broadcasting will serve as the event's MC and the hosts from VSU's own X's and O's show on Talk 92.1 will be there to help as well. Cheerleaders from the local schools will be pumping up the crowd and popular music will keep the crowd entertained.

Call the VSU Athletic Department at (229) 333-5890 for more information regarding the July 16 viewing party or ESPN's search for TItleTown, USA.
