VALDOSTA - Bernard “Bernie” L. Brown, businessman and
distinguished graduate of VSU, will speak at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb.
12, in the Pound Hall Auditorium on north campus as the fourth and
final installment of the Harley Langdale Jr. Lecture Series.
A Metter, Ga. native, Brown holds a bachelors degree from VSU and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He spent many years at hospitals in the Southeastern United States before moving to Marietta, Ga. where he remains an active community member. His professional experiences includes two terms on the American College of Healthcare Executives Council of Regents, past chair of the Georgia Hospital Association, past member of the House of Delegates of the American Hospital Association, Life Fellowship in the ACHE and much more. Other accomplishments include many awards for excellence, speaking engagements at the local, state and national level and even a recorded album that includes contemporary, spiritual and gospel selections.
Brown was one of the original presenters in the first Harley Langdale Jr. Lecture Series. The accomplished author returns to VSU to present valuable recommendations on leadership, professionalism, management techniques and other important factors for excelling in business, all derived from his most recent published work, “Lessons Learned On the Way Down.” Through his discussion, Brown will reach out to current and future, emerging, aspiring or even reluctant leaders by providing a different twist on old truths and applying Christian principles to secular business.
The public is invited to attend the lecture on leadership in business. Pound Hall is located at the VSU Rea & Lillian Steele North Campus bordered by Patterson and Ashley Streets, as well as Pendleton Drive.
