2008 VSU License Plate a Reality

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University has surpassed its goal in the “Tag, You’re It” campaign, collecting many more than the required 500 necessary applications for establishing a new official commemorative State of Georgia license plate.

The campaign began in January with intentions of meeting the 500 mark by July 31. University supporters were encouraged to “Brag with their tags” and join the grassroots effort to create the new plate. With just two days left, VSU received word that its goal had been met with an official count of 584 applications early Monday afternoon. By Tuesday afternoon, the count was up to 623 applications.

“We really want to thank those who committed this year - they guaranteed manufacturing the plate in 2008,” Mary Gooding, Alumni Relations director and campaign manager, said. “Now anyone can participate in this fantastic opportunity to support VSU.”

The new tag will feature the V-state athletic logo and be available in the 2008 calendar year. As with all commemorative license plates, there is a $25 fee in addition to regular charges and taxes.
