USG Intercultural Communication Training Initiative stops by VSU
VSU’s Center for International Programs will host the University
System of Georgia’s Intercultural Communication Training Initiative
(ICTI) on Friday, March 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the
International Programs building. The ICTI provides a unique
international education training program to help campuses tune in
to the needs of international students.
The “Train-the-Trainer” workshop will focus on training international educators, faculty, staff, and campus community members on how to conduct home-campus seminars to help other individuals understand the difficulty of adjusting to life in the United States, both culturally and academically. Participants will learn how to develop and maintain international cultural training programs shaped to meet the needs of international students.
“This would allow faculty and staff from the southern part of the state to take advantage of this training without having to drive to Macon or Atlanta where such types of workshops are usually held,” Irina McClellan, international student adviser, said. “The Committee on the International Students and Scholars (CISS) of the USG has worked very hard to secure this grant from the National Association of International Educators (NAFSA), and I am glad we were successful.”
Participants must register online for the workshop at http://www.oie.gatech.edu/isss/usgtraining/ before February 9. At the workshop, participants will receive light refreshments and helpful materials.
