Second Annual Best Practices in Teaching Seminar

Valdosta State University’s Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration (COBA) will host the Second Annual Best Practices in Teaching Seminar on Friday, February 23 2007, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm in Pound Hall Auditorium on VSU’s Rea and Lillian Steele North Campus.

The seminar, titled “Building a High Touch Classroom in a High Tech World: Exploring the Intersection of Technology, Pedagogy, and Business Practice,” will feature COBA faculty members offering eight presentations focusing on teaching issues. The seminar includes: (1) “The Innovation and Interactive Technology in the Classroom,” by Dr. Jacqueline Eastman, (2) “Bringing Business into the Classroom: Learning the Ropes,” by Dr. Donna Cunningham, (3) “Tips for Improving Organization and Presentation Clarity in the Classroom,” by Drs. Ray Elson and Sanjay Gupta, (4) “Bringing Business into the Classroom: Using Technology to add value to the Classroom Experience,” by Jennifer Gill, (5) “Building Classroom Community,” by Cheryl Hatcher, (6) “A Beginners Guide to WebCT,” by Dr. A. Bruce Caster, (7) “ Bringing Business into the Classroom: Using Case Studies as an Instructional and Evaluation Tool,” by Lara Bruhn, (8) “Service Failure and Recovery in Education: What to do when things go Wrong,” by Drs. Jim Muncy and Raj Iyer.

“I am sure you will find at least one tool or tip that you could bring back to the classroom to enhance your student’s learning experience,” Dr. Raymond Elson, seminar chair, said.
