Dr. Cates Receives National Award
Valdosta State University’s Dr. Carl Cates has been selected as
the Administrator of the Year by the States Advisory Council. Dr.
Cates was presented the award at the 2006 convention of the
National Communication Association (NCA) held in San Antonio,
Texas, from November 16-19.
NCA is a non-profit organization of approximately 7,700 educators,
practitioners, and students who work and reside in every state and
more than 20 countries. The purpose of NCA is to promote study,
criticism, research, teaching, and application of the artistic,
humanistic, and scientific principles of communication. NCA is the
oldest and largest national organization that promotes
communication scholarship and education.
Cates is currently the department head and professor of the
Communication Arts department at VSU.
