VSU's attorney participates in UGA's 37th Annual Higher EducationLaw Conference
Laverne Lewis Gaskins, university attorney for Valdosta State
University, was invited to present at the 37th Annual Conference on
Higher Education and the Law, held July 30-Aug. 1, 2006, at Jekyll
Island, Ga. The conference was sponsored by the Institute of Higher
Education and the University of Georgia.
The purpose of the conference was to present and discuss new ideas
and approaches for dealing with critical legal issues confronting
university administrators today. Gaskins' presentation was titled,
"Alcohol and Drug Use: Universities' Legal Duty of Care, Double
Jeopardy, Fourth Amendment and Due Process."
This is the second year Gaskins has been invited to present at the
conference.
