Honors Day set for March 29

Valdosta State University will recognize students for their outstanding academic achievements at its annual Honors Day ceremony on Wednesday, March 29, at 11:30 a.m. in the Whitehead Auditorium of the Fine Arts Building.

Over 40 awards will be presented at the ceremony, including one award given by each department and college and eight university-wide awards. The Annie Powe Hopper Award, named in honor of the institution's first Dean of Women, is VSU's most prestigious award and is presented to a senior who best exemplifies the high academic standards and excellent traditions of VSU.

Dr. Selena Nawrocki, assistant professor in the Art Department, will be the keynote speaker at this year's event. Academic classes will be cancelled between 10:50 a.m. and 1 p.m. to allow all students and faculty to attend the Honors Day ceremony and reception. For more information, contact Ann Lacey at 229-333-7446 or Dr. Michael Davey at 229-333-4950.
