Dr. Etling Headed to Hollywood

Valdosta State University's Dr. Larry Etling has been awarded a fellowship by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the same organization that presents the Emmy Awards in Hollywood. Etling, assistant professor of Mass Media, will be attending the fellowship November 8 12. He is one of 20 faculty members from across the nation selected to spend five days in Hollywood attending meetings and seminars with media professionals and touring production facilities.

"I am happy to receive this fellowship because it will benefit my classes in many ways," said Etling. "I expect to learn a lot about TV production and I can share this information with my students in classes," he added.

Etling is the third member of VSU's Mass Media section to receive this fellowship, the other two being Frank Barnas in 2001 and Mike Savoie in 2002.
