VSU's Society for Human Resource Management Student Chapter winsSuperior Merit Award

Valdosta State University's Society for Human Resource Management Student Chapter has been awarded Superior Merit Award status from the National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for the 2004-2005 school year. The Superior Merit Award status is an upgrade for the VSU chapter, which last year obtained its first Merit Award.

"Winning this award demonstrates that our chapter has done an outstanding job of providing opportunities for growth and development to our members," said Rebecca Murphy, VSU's Director of Organizational Development and Training and SHRM Chapter Advisor.

The VSU Chapter of SHRM has established an internship program and a resume' resource book. It works to make additional connections for students with HR professionals.

One hundred thirty-three of the 430 active student chapters submitted applications for this award given by the National SHRM. Ninety-eight chapters earned Superior Merit Awards, and 24 chapters achieved Merit Award status.
