Grand Opening set for VSU's HUB Space

Valdosta State University's HUB Learning Cooperative will officially have its Grand Opening of HUB Space on Friday, April 8, 2005 in Room 2619 of Odum Library. The time will be 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at
11:00 a.m.

HUB is not an acronym, but simply "HUB" as in center of activity or interest. The HUB idea began at VSU in 2002 when faculty and administrators came together to seek creative solutions to address various needs on campus. It is an emerging and evolving concept of collegial professional development that is intended to connect people and support partnerships across campus. HUB embraces the true spirit of partnership, as it works to meet the common educational, professional, social and cultural needs of its members.

The new HUB Space is another way the HUB Learning Cooperative is helping the VSU community collaborate on research and development projects, find professional development resources, and expand opportunities for incorporating the latest technology into teaching and business processes. The HUB concept includes providing spaces for conferring and planning with experts, gatherings of people with ideas, a clearinghouse for collegial professional development, studios for instructional materials production, laboratories for learning new skills, and outlets for dissemination of success stories.

The Grand Opening of the HUB Space will include refreshments and technology demonstrations. Visitors will be able to learn about the access they will have to equipment, space and resources through membership in the HUB Learning Cooperative.
