Scott H. Sikes named Vice President for University Advancement

After completing two extensive national searches, Valdosta State University President Ronald M. Zaccari announces the appointment of Scott Henderson Sikes as Vice President for University Advancement.

Sikes is currently Executive Director of Leadership and Major Gifts at the University of Georgia, assisting with UGA's $500 million comprehensive capital campaign. He has worked in a series of positions with UGA's Division of External Affairs for nearly 14 years, each with increasing budget and administrative responsibilities. Before joining the UGA Staff, Sikes worked as a financial consultant in Atlanta and served as administrative aide to Governor Joe Frank Harris.

?I am impressed with Scott's extensive knowledge and expertise in all areas of fund raising and development,? said Zaccari. ?As VSU prepares for a centennial campaign, Scott will provide the leadership to raise external funds and complete many of the goals outlined in our strategic and master plans.?
?VSU is both an exciting professional challenge and a campus and region filled with opportunities,? said Sikes. ?My wife Valerie and I look forward to joining the VSU and Valdosta-Lowndes area community.? Sikes said VSU's faculty/staff, administration, search committee, and ?the lovely campus and community? impressed him.

Sikes previously served UGA as Interim Executive Director of Development. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Russian Language from the University of Georgia. He is also a graduate of the College of Financial Planning, where he earned the professional designation of Certified Financial Planner?, and maintains his membership in the Financial Planning Association.

Sikes has earned the professional designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is former president of the Georgia Planned Giving Council, Inc., and the Athens Area Estate Planning Network, Inc. As a community volunteer, Sikes is on the Executive Board of the Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America.
