Senior art exhibits opens Nov. 17

Valdosta State University's Art Department invites the community to attend the opening reception of the ?Six Degrees of Inspiration? exhibit on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2?4 p.m., in the Art Gallery (located in the Fine Arts Building). The show continues through Dec. 9.

This exhibit features the work of six VSU's senior art majors, who are graduating this semester. Students exhibiting are: Jerry Long, Jeremy Norman, Angela Smalley, Jamie Thomas, Misty Tompkins and Kristy Williams.

According Julie Bowland, Art Gallery director, this exhibit is a graduation requirement for all VSU students earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts degree.

?The students have the experience of being a professional and the satisfaction of seeing their work on gallery walls and presented to the world, not hidden in a studio where no one ever sees the art,? Bowland said. ?The students not only created the artwork, but they also designed and installed the gallery show, did publicity, arranged the reception and designed the catalog.?

The Art Gallery is open Monday?Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, contact the Art Department at 229?333?5835.
