VSU hosts Education Career Day

Valdosta State University's office of Career Services will host Education Career Day on Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the mezzanine level in the PE Complex. Approximately 54 school systems will be represented.

Students can schedule interviews with representatives from participating school systems during the walk-through session, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Interviews will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The career day is open to all VSU alumni and current students. Professional dress is required and participants should bring several copies of their resumes. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for maximum exposure to all representatives.

According to Kevin Taylor, career development specialist, Career Services is co-sponsoring this event with TeachGeorgia.org, the official teacher recruitment Web site for Georgia's public schools.

Career Services provides help with many career search issues, such as choosing a major, learning more about one's interests using vocational guidance instruments, gathering information about a chosen career field, matching a student's major to entry-level job opportunities, teaching decision-making skills, preparing a quality resume, acquiring assertive interview skills, learning job search strategies and locating full-time job opportunities after graduation.
