"Out with a Bang" final planetarium show for this season

Valdosta State University Planetarium will host ?Out With a Bang,? the final public show of its 2000-2001 season, on Thursday, April 5 at 8 p.m. Dr. Cecilia Barnbaum will discuss the catastrophic death of stars, which are more massive than our sun. This year's series, ?Lifestyles of the Hot and Luminous,? deals with the life histories of stars.

If weather permits, the public will be invited to view the heavens with the telescopes of the VSU Observatory atop Nevins Hall after the show.

`The VSU Planetarium is a member of Community Partners in Education and welcomes nearly 6,000 visitors each year. School groups or civic organizations seeking to arrange a planetarium visit should call the VSU Visitor Information Plaza at 229-293-6100.

The planetarium is located in Room 3007 on the third floor of Nevins Hall; seating is limited to 65 and there are no reserved seats. Planetarium shows are suitable for ages five and up.
