VSU to host Georgia Theatre Conference

Valdosta State University's Theatre program, in association with the honorary dramatic fraternity Alpha Psi Omega and Theatre Guild Valdosta will host this year's Georgia Theatre Conference (GTC) Convention Oct. 19-21.

An estimated 800 to 900 participants are expected to attend this year's convention, which will offer a variety of workshops for children, teenagers and adults. High school students can participate in the One-Act Play Festival, while college students and non-professional actors, will be able to seek summer employment with the Southeastern Theatre Conference Screening Auditions. The youth division will sponsors plays specifically designed for children and young people. As part of the Community Theatre Play Festival, community theatre groups from across the state will present plays at the �Dosta Playhouse in downtown Valdosta.

In addition to the various workshops, GTC's professional division will host its annual one-act playwriting competition for Georgia writers. The winning play is showcased in a staged reading during the convention.
